There is Good and Bad in Everyone

Hi Everyone

I think that most of us watching and listening to world events over the past few months are irritated by the so called leaders who have massive egos or have misused the powers that they have been given. It was refreshing to encounter two people this week that I did not previously know much about. Firstly, Kamila Harris, who lost to Trump in the presidential elections last year, gave a fairly long interview on BBC TV. She was here to promote her book 107 Days, the length of time she had to beat Trump after Joe belatedly decided to drop out of the race. I have no idea whether or not she would have made a How long will it begreat President but what did impress me was level of endurance and effort needed to those 107 days just to get to election day. Of course she was critical of Trump as you would expect, but at no point did she abuse either him or his policies in contrast to the things he threw at her and Joe. Trump had apparently withdrawn her security protection, one of his many vengeful acts, but when she was asked why this had happened she sensibly replied “you will have to ask him”. Can you imagine Trump answering that question in the same way? One ‘expert’ listening to the interview questioned whether she would have been able to deal with Putin. Answer- Nobody can deal with Putin, not even Trump. The second person I encountered was the King of Jordon who seemed to me to be a thoroughly nice man living in peace next to Israel. One of his main tasks at the moment is getting injured children from Gaza to provide them with medical care. Already over 2000 children have benefited, with many more waiting for help. There are many decent people all around us; you just have to find them.

This week, Prince Andrew finally became Andrew, and like most people, I think that the announcement was long overdue. As well as his own deserved downfall, it has certainly not helped the profile of the Royal family. What the future will bring, we do not know, but my personal view is that I hope that we continue to have a King and Queen rather than a politically motivated President. With Andrew now a sad, lonely figure whose friends are no doubt distancing themselves from him, what he can do to give himself some credibility is to agree to go to the US to answer the many questions about his association with Epstein, assuming that he tells the truth this time, something he seems to have found difficult in the past. He owes it to the many victims of abuse, and if he has any sense of responsibility, he should do it not only for those abused but also for the future of our Royal family.
Now, if you are a long time Rubbish reader, you will know that I only have an O level in Maths, but I was still able to calculate that I have spent up to now, about 32000 days in this world, and that is before I have even reached middle age. Now ask yourself how many days of your life can you actually remember?. I would suggest that it is, like me, a very small fraction of the total. Now try to calulatre how many times the earth has revolved with the human race on it and you will begin to realise what a very short time we have here, so make the most of it as you will not get another chance.
Just a Thought:
How long will it be before Kamila Harris becomes President? I don’t know, but at the moment, she is just Biden her time.
I’m not sure why all the fuss about (Prince) Andrew. It was only a minor affair.
Brian
