A Bit Coin, a Bottle of Milk and a Disaster

Hi Everyone

I decided about five years ago not to get involved in Cryptocurrency as Trump informed me that it was a “scam” and that “It is a disaster waiting to happen”. The other reason that I did not get involved is that I had no idea what it was all about. Now I read that Trump made $1.40billion dollars from Cryptocurrency in just one year. That prompted me to consult that other con man AI. This is what he said :-
Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual form of currency secured by cryptography. It operates on decentralised networks based on blockchain technology—a distributed ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers. Unlike traditional fiat currencies, it is not issued by central authorities like governments or banks.
Can anyone who has more than O level maths and who is not yet approaching middle age explain to me what that is all about? Also, this week, Trump’s financial report for 2025 was published. It was a mere 927 pages long. I would guess that the majority of us would be lucky if our financial report filled one page. By comparison, Lady Trump only earned $10.7 million from the documentary film made about her this year. Harry S Truman was the US President when I was a boy in the 1940s. His annual salary was $75.000 dollars. When he left the White House, his only steady income from a modest Army service pension was $112.56 per month. OK, that might not be typical of most presidents, but it does illustrate what a crazy, unequal world we have become, which sadly will probably become even more unequal.

Last week we had energy sapping high temperatures with apparently more to come in the next few days. Back when the Senior Partner retired, she decided that keeping a bottle of milk in a bucket of cold water in the hall was not the best way of making sure that the milk would survive the hot weather. Although she was tight with money, she decided that at nearly 70 years of age she needed a fridge. With the milk and not much else in the new fridge, all seemed to be going well, until she realised that the fridge had a wire attached with a plug on the end that connected to a socket in the wall that produced electricity that cost money to run. After a week the milk was back in the bucket in the Hall and, twenty years later we inherited an almost new fridge and a bucket. Unfortunately, the milk had gone off.
Unfortunately, the people of Venezuela have suffered an awful natural disaster with hundreds, if not thousands, of lives lost. Now they are appealing for help from across the world, and here in the UK, there is now a disaster fund appeal, which I am sure will receive support from both the government and the public. I understand that in recent months, the US has made billions from Venezuela's oil reserves, but to date are only offering millions in aid. Surely the people deserve all the help we can give them, but especially from the US. If Trump wants something good to brag about, this is his opportunity.
Just a Thought:
Harry S Truman said - “Show me a man who gets rich by being a politician, and I’ll show you a crook”.
Don’t worry over spilt milk, just turn the udder cheek and moo-ve on.
I wonder who was the first person to see an earthquake. It must have been a groundbreaking experience.
